Semester February - July 2021

Thursday - Friday 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Problem Session

Wednesday 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Office Hour

Tuesday 6:00 - 7:00 pm

This is an introductory Partial Differential Equations course, from the discussion of classical solutions to an introduction to functional analysis methods. We will discuss with detail the classical linear second degree equations, as well as introduce Sobolev spaces and their application to elliptic problems.

Homework and Notes

List of assigned problem sets and announcements will be published in the Classroom page.

Midterm evaluations

There will be two midterm evaluations, which will consist of (at least) a pair of presentation.

Assigned problems 50%

Problems will be assigned on Friday every week, and are due by Wednesday. The problems are exercises that either will fill details of results discussed in class, or are applications of such results to other problems. Each student must present at least once the solution of an assigned problem during each midterm period.

Topic presentation50%

Each student must present (at least) a topic to the class, either a discussion on a problem or a particular theorem.

  • First midterm ends March 17
  • Second midterm ends June 23

Final evaluation

The final examination will consist of a public presentation of an specific topic (50%) and an oral examination (50%).
